Download Handwriting Fonts onto your computer

In my post laminating your own handwriting chart I wrote about downloading handwriting fonts on to your computer.

Here are detailed  step-by-step instructions ~

  1. Download the font file from the website.
  2. Save the file on your computer.  Make a “fonts” file to store all your fonts.
  3. Sometimes the font file is zipped file which is compressed to store several files together, you need to extract files.  Click the Extract File option and the individual files will appear. There are sometimes a few file versions of the same font  – “T” for TrueType or a “O” for Open Type. I select True Type for Windows.
  4. Double-click on the file and a window will pop up with the font displayed in varying sizes.  At the top of the file, click Install.
  5. Your downloaded font file will now appear in your MS Word and other Word programs.
  6. When you use your Word program, select your font and increase the size to suit your child’s ability and maturity or for the style and appearance of your work.

For more details, advice and practical tips, games and exercises, you can order my comprehensive handwriting eBooks ~  Handwriting Tips eBook, Teach Print step-by-step and Teach Cursive step-by-step on my Packages page.

Wishing you much joy in teaching your child to write in print or cursive in a effective fun way.

  2. Thanks so much for posting the above information….I had searched without luck for several hours for a font that I would like my children to learn – not keen on the US version (I schooled in the UK) Printing as we speak 🙂
